Fun Fact: My favourite hobbies are of course eating anything that comes my way and relaxing at home either on the sofa or perhaps in the garden. I love my daily walks in the park and especially chasing my tennis ball, swimming and playing with my friends. I joined the Top Dog team in 2015 and my visits are the highlight of my week.

Background: I found Sage outside a KFC in Brakpan at 6 weeks old. At first she was a very shy and timid little girl but that quickly changed.
Fun Fact: Sage absolutely loves her tennis ball and often gets in her hyperactive moods which has her doing the most bizarre and funny things. She is a true gentle giant who wouldn’t harm a soul and I saw this first hand when fostering stray kittens - Sage was my right hand girl often guiding me on what to do. Watching her mother them was one of my greatest experiences.

Background: Tommy was adopted from the SPCA and is the most loving old man - always ready to give a morning hug, and the puppy in him comes out when he goes for his daily walk in the park. He tolerates the 2 cats, and gets on very well with the other 2 dogs. Ollie is his Top Dogs partner in crime. They love their Top Dogs outings.
Fun Fact: When Tommy is on the bed or couch he hates being touched by the cats or dogs and actually moans! He guards the oven when Mark makes dinner and is always ready for an “accidental drop”.

All my Cavaliers have been members of TOP Dogs, so as soon as she was old enough, Tammy followed in their footsteps. Background: Tarkan comes from a lovely breeder in Klerksdorp, his direct family is actively involved in Cheetah protection program. We got him in July 2016 at the age of 4 months. He is a super fun dog with loads of energy but not your typical Anatolian Shepherd. He adores human company and will try sit on your lap at even the smallest opportunity.
Fun Fact: Tarkan is a very good landscaper and a big goof ball.
Breed: Mixed (apparently there is no terrier!)
Adopted: Born July 2013, adopted December 2013
Regular Handler: Claire Mac Intosh
Background: Sansa was originally adopted from Ark Animal Centre in 2013 by a close friend but ended up growing too big and became too boisterous to live in a complex. I then adopted her and brought her to live on our farm where she happily runs circles around the horses all day, swims in the river and generally causes nonsense with my other dogs. She started with general obedience classes and proved to be a very quick learner. She now has a couple of obedience certificates to her name!
Fun Fact: Her one ear is always up and the other is always down!
Breed: Golden RetreiverXLabrador
Date of Birth: 26 August 2015
Regular Handler: Esmé Marshall
Background: Quip came to me at 7 weeks of age from SA Guide Dogs as I'm a puppy raiser for them. I raised him with the potential of him becoming a guide dog but unfortunately he was withdrawn from their program for health reasons at just over a year old.
Fun Fact: Quip is very food focused and therefore easy to train. He loves to drive in the car with his chin on the windowsill watching the world go by, especially when it's safe to open the window. He loves to work and gets very excited when I take his Top Dog jacket out. He is a very relaxed dog spending most of his day with us nearby.
Date of Birth: 5 January 2014
Regular Handler: Vanessa Garland
Background: Tango was adopted from the Vereeniging SPCA in October 2015. She had been bred and trained as a SAPS Narcotics K9. Both her parents were SAPS K9’s who later became a breeding pair upon their retirement. Tango was found “not yet competent” during her final qualifying test with SAPS, as she has too short an attention span to fulfill the role of a Narcotics K9, and was put up for adoption.
Fun Fact: Tango loves playing with balls…tennis balls however are methodically shredded, so the virtually indestructible rubber Kong balls are preferred.

Fun Facts: True to her breed,Tessie loves lying out on the lawn on the coldest of winter days looking over the valley and sniffing the wind - she even does this when it is raining! However, conversely, she will lie across my daughter’s knee in front of the fire until her coat is burning hot and we have to tell her to move away!
